Five students from the Services Academy Induction phase last term were selected for the Basic Leadership Course run by the Youth Development Unit and NZ Defence force. This year the course is run in Mangawhai with other Services Academies from the Northern Region. The course is designed to teach basic leadership skills and how to lead a team in a military environment. Students will gain many tools in these five days and it is hopped that they return to their schools and put all that they learn into practice. The top 2 students that show leadership potential will be selected to go on the NZ Defence force advanced leadership course later on in the year.
