Click here for brochure: Wairau Engineering
Wairau Engineering Supplies Ltd was established in the 1970, providing the North Shore of Auckland with one of its first specific engineering supply companies. In 1996 the company moved from its Wairau Road base to new larger premises in a new industrial area in Mairangi Bay, off Constellation Drive.
Current manager Bob Foothead has 20 years experience in the oil industry and with his oil chemistry background is qualified to discuss any lubrication issues. Wairau Engineering Supplies maintains an extensive range of cutting tools covering the major range of tape and die sizes, and a comprehensive supply of drills in the form of jobber, long, extra long, reduced shank and taper shank.
Fasteners are a major product and a comprehensive range of metric and imperial high tensile bolts are available in a hex bolt and cap screws. Experience is a key component of Wairau Engineering’s success and with Ted Hodgson, trade qualified and 40 years in engineering supplies, running the counter we have that experience to assist customers.
Wairau Engineering Supplies was built on integrity in both products and customer service. This philosophy continues today, maybe old-fashioned, but something enjoyed by the many customers who utilize the services provided by Wairau Engineering.

Firebug Yachts
FBHQ looks after the class, attends boatshows, sends regular newsletters, supplies planpacks, kits, advice etc. The planpack contains 25 illustrated pages of building instructions and 9 sheets of plans and full size paper patterns.
The plans are continuously updated and will eventually be published as a book “How to Build, Rig and Sail a Firebug”. Don’t build from outdated plans.
In Australia and New Zealand hull building materials (ply, glue, paint etc) are available at special prices, details with the plans. Kits which include mast, boom, sail, fittings etc can be delivered to most parts of the world by courier without problems, email for a price sheet. Delivery of kits overseas is not a problem. The Firebug has enjoyed excellent support from the local marine industry. The Firebug promotion is intended to foster amateur boat building skills and get people, especially children out sailing at a reasonable cost. FBHQ is funded primarily from planpack sales. Donations or any additional support would open new avenues for promotion. It’s a good cause!
