On Wednesday night, we enjoyed a wonderful night celebrating the academic excellence of our senior students. Two long-standing staff members, Alastair Tod and David Aston were our guest speakers. Retiring after 90-plus years of service between them, they were tasked with sharing with our students words of wisdom and learnings – 1 minute per decade! The haka for these two gentlemen exemplified the mana they hold among our school community. These two incredible educators, who have given years of energy, passion, wisdom and energy will be sorely missed.
In front of a packed Kaipatiki Theatre, our students can be proud of the successes, awards, trophies, and scholarships they received, alongside friends and families. The Special and Supreme award winners were :
Resilience award for a student who has had to overcome barriers to succeed academically – Billy Dickson
McKinley cup awarded to a student who has made outstanding development in their time at Glenfield College – Kafoa Muaror
Kaitiaki o te ao Māori for Extensive commitment to Te Ao Māori during their college years – Clelijah-Helen Tohu-Shute
Kaipatiki scholarship recognises their contribution to the wider community – Jorja Snell and Jess Dickson
Lodge North Harbour for a student who has made a contribution to the welfare of others – Myah Gray
Vocational Excellence award for the top student who has studied Vocational subjects and intends following a Vocational career – Connor Wrigley
JW Rankin Memorial Trophy for outstanding service to the school and community – Jacob Freestone
John Potter Memorial Trophy to the student who has achieved most in all fields of endeavour over their years at Glenfield College – Nate Carroll
Proxime Accessit awarded to the students who is the runner-up in Level 3 in the current academic year, this is a calculated GDP score – Jess Dickson
K R Buckley Cup – Dux is awarded to the top Level 3 Academic student in the current calendar year, calculated by GDP score – Ricky Zhu
