Services Academy Director
Glenfield College is seeking a dynamic and motivated leader to direct our Services Academy – a Ministry of Education and New Zealand Defence Force-supported programme that empowers senior students to achieve personal excellence and prepare for successful careers within the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) and beyond.

About the Services Academy
The Services Academy provides an effective and stimulating teaching and learning environment focused on personal achievement, teamwork, discipline, and leadership. The programme aims to:
- Identify, support, and upskill students to pursue NZDF and related career pathways.
- Foster resilience, teamwork, and self-discipline through a structured programme of physical and academic challenges.
- Build leadership, goal-setting, and self-assessment skills to help students reach their full potential.
- Encourage students to become positive role models in their families, peer groups, and wider community.
About the Role
The Services Academy Director is responsible for leading the Academy programme, mentoring students, and coordinating activities and training in partnership with the NZDF and the school’s senior leadership team.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Delivering a structured programme that integrates leadership, physical training, career development, and community engagement.
- Supporting and mentoring Academy members to develop confidence, discipline, and a strong sense of purpose.
- Liaising with NZDF personnel, school staff, whanau and community partners to ensure student success.
- Managing programme logistics, events, and reporting requirements in line with Ministry of Education and NZDF expectations.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate young people.
- Experience in education, youth development, or a background in the NZDF or related services (preferred but not essential).
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- A commitment to fostering teamwork, resilience, and positive personal growth in students.
- The ability to model the values of discipline, integrity, and service.
