We currently have five competitive/performance based dance troupes. These troupes are lyrical, jazz and contemporary based groups and go under the name Perspective Dance Troupe (Junior). Students must audition for a place in this troupe.
These troupes will be competing in multiple competitions including Dance Brandz and Northern Performing Arts Competition Society.
School Dance Showcase
During Term 3 the Dance Department holds its annual dance showcase, giving both of our dance groups and the dance curriculum students the opportunity to perform before an audience. The choreography of this show consists of student, teacher and our guest choreographer’s work.
Every year three senior productions are performed in the Kaipatiki Theatre – a professional standard performance space. These are full-scale plays, usually with a contemporary and innovative approach. A mix of comedy and drama plays are produced, with a focus on creative and engaging staging. Scripts are chosen to ensure students and audiences alike are challenged and entertained.
Students work with industry professionals to develop their improvisation, storytelling and character development skills.
A theatre sports club also operates allowing any and all students the opportunity to explore improvisation and have fun.
